| In the past, treatment of many vein disorders required a surgical procedure called vein stripping. This procedure, usually given under a general anesthetic, was quite painful and often required the patient to stay off their feet for several weeks. At Wisconsin Vein Institute, we take a different approach. By using ultrasound to "see" the veins under the skin, the veins can be treated without surgically removing (stripping) the vein out of the leg.
